VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE

Social Media & Web Marketing Volunteer • Historic Joy Kogawa House
Vancouver, BC (2020/Present)

Historic Joy Kogawa House is a literary and cultural non-profit dedicated to preserving the legacy of writer Joy Kogawa and supporting writer-in-residence programs while educating the public about Japanese-Canadian history.

Having discovered Historic Joy Kogawa House in need of a complete digital overhaul, I took the initiative to redesign and reorganize 16 years of archived content on their website, improving both navigation and accessibility. I also developed and implemented new web programming to better showcase Joy Kogawa’s story, the house’s history, and its residency and public programs.

In addition to the website, I have been responsible for the development and distribution of newsletters and social media content, curating content that highlights important historical milestones, current and past writers-in-residence, and upcoming events. I have worked closely with local organizations and partners to ensure cross-promotion and outreach, while designing various print materials—including brochures, flyers, and event programs—to support the House’s initiatives.
